Really? Anybody going to sell the 4 just to have the new gadget and a phone thats bait faster? To me the iOS 5 basically like getting a new phone to me.

Anybody hear certainly getting 5 when it comes out and sell the 4?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Yes.

I'll only be doing it if it has a new look or features exclusive to the phone that I want.

You're speaking as if you know that the iPhone 5 will only be a bit faster, but you don't know that. I'm sure some people will stick with their iPhone 4, wait for their upgrade, and I am sure some people will be undecided about selling their iPhone 4 for an iPhone 5 if it's not a big change, and I am sure others, like myself, buy the new one each year and sell the old one.

You're crazy. SO many people are going to do this. You're asking this on an Apple forum, man.

I'll be one of those people

If the iphone 5 delivers something different and better than my iphone 4, then i'll go out and buy one outright.

My cast off's are normally snatched off me by my children !

Not all of us "need" to sell our phone to get another. I pass mine to someone who is needy

People have been doing it since the first iPhone. Don't see why people would stop now.

So who's iPhone contract/buying/selling schedule got screwed by the late release?

So until now i had the perfect set up, my contract would expire every year right about the time that the newest iPhone would be released. I would go ahead and buy it and then sell my old one soon after. Now my contract isnt up until march of 2012, what would be your advice to someone who is in this position?

Call me materialistic, but yes. Especially since my iP4 should still be able to be unlocked, making it worth $700 (I still hope) :)

I will most likely be selling my iPhone 4 and putting the money toward the purchase of a MacBook Pro, and not the new release of the iPhone. Although, if it proves to be a super nice phone, I might sell my Windows PC and put the cash toward the next iPhone. :D

The next iPhone will have to be really different from the 4 for me to sell it. I love IP4 and it is the best looking phone on the market. To sell it now and buy a phone out of contract would be tough to do.

Nope, not buying into this one, though I have the preserved 1.59 baseband that makes mine a bit easier to sell for unlocking than some. DH & I both had original iPhones up until the iPhone 4. We skipped upgrading for both the 3G & 3GS, and honestly don't regret it at all. The 4s/5 just isn't going to be a big enough change to warrant paying for the early upgrade and going through the hassle of selling the current phones. We'll both wait for a 4G capable model, most likely.

(Did the same thing on iPads--bought the original and still use them constantly. Skipped the iPad 2 as a marginal upgrade, we'll see if the 3 warrants shelling out the money. Unless it's a higher rez screen, we're not buying.)

Yes I really am. In all honesty, I hate the way the iPhone 4 feels when you hold it. Its too square and the double sided glass design makes it feel extremely fragile. Hopefully the 5 will have more of a taper to it with less glass. If not, then bummer.
