Series - 18 hours
Ultra - 36 hours
I got 3 hours on my Series 9 today after upgrading to 10.1…

Ultra 1 - betas bad, from RC back to 36-40 hours (same as OS 9)

S7 - betas bad, release really bad, but a re-pair sorted it. I now get about 18-20 hours (health 85%) which is the same as OS9.

On both I haven’t changed the way I use them.

I am holding back on 10.1 in case though they go the same way as others.

Feel for the guys that are having issues and hope that Apple address it.

Assuming you mean 10.1. Since installing last night, my battery has drained twice today, and it's only 3:30 pm here. I usually get a full day out of it.

WatchOS 10 tanked the battery life on my S5, but my 45mm S9 and wife’s 41mm S8 have been great. Mine is at 74% after 10 hours off the charger today. My wife’s is 84% after about 8 hours.

no, I get WAY BETTER on my Ultra 2 ;)
on Ultra 1 after ~38hrs usage I was typically 25-30% battery, on Ultra 2 I'm ~ 35-40%.

I assume you're asking to decide whether or not it's "safe" for you to update? couple of my observations when updating my Ultra 1:
. some apps were downloaded to AW that I did not have there before (can't remember though)
. its loading some default widgets, namely the "News" widget which tried to "fetch data". I don't have a news subscription, I just deleted the news app from my iphone
. double-check you background refresh settings, some were altered during upgrade

I have not yet upgraded my S7, I use it for sleep tracking only every other night so don't (yet) see the need

Series 8

with absolutely everything turned fully on (no attempt to power save anything).
with approximately a 70 - 90 minute workout (running/walking daily).
with using it to track sleep at night.
with 2 or 3 purchases daily with apple Wallet cards.
with notifications generally set to Mirror the iPhone (w/ no notifications during Workout or Sleep).
with timing set to "Always" return to clock (for any app being temporarily used to return to the watch face)
with Display brightness set at the middle level
with Display set to Always on.

i get > 15 hours.

usually my iPhone is in my pocket so its usually close to the Watch. bluetooth is of course always on.

with WatchOS 10.0 i get between 15% and 25% battery charge remaining when i start to charge it for about 1 hour just before i go to bed.
(with WatchOS 9 i got between 20% and 30% battery left before i charge it.)

the Workout with all fitness measurements fully working is definitely the heaviest drain on the daily battery life.

also: i have noticed when i use the Watch to make 2 or 3 calls (its a cellular model) of maybe 5 or 6 minutes each, the battery will drop to around 5% - 10% remaining when i begin to charge it at night.

i do have Express Transit Card turned on, so theoretically that should be giving a percentage showing less than it actually has (than if i were to turn express transit off).

bought this Series 8 in January 2023, and its been doing all of the above daily things, every day, for these 10 months.
battery health currently shows at 98%.

Watch face is set to Solar Dial with 4 complications:
Weather Conditions for current location;
Temperature for local location;
Activity Rings;
and Steps (using 3rd party app).

i have experienced heavier battery usage (dramatically so) when i am hiking in the hills, without the cellular watch being able to find a network. so i turn cellular off during those times. GPS still available even if no cellular/internet connection (unless you are in a ravine...)

very satisfied.

update: WatchOS 10.1 appears to be giving even a longer daily battery amount.

According to Battery Grapher, I'm getting about 34 hours on my Series 9. I'm a light user though. Mostly just notifications, sleep tracking, Home app and telling time. (And watching Snoopy's antics of course.)

Good write up, thanks for the details. Does this really mean that you only charge it for about an hour at night? And that’s it… I mean you don’t have to charge it in the morning also?

After update about 59% after 7 hours off the charger. Not doing anything, no workout, no calls on the watch, just wearing it and doing its thing. Probably because of the recent update and things are processing or indexing? Usually I'm 80% or more even after 8 hours. Watch Series 8 with cellular.

After 24 hours off of the charger, my S6 on watchOS 10.1 is at 32%. That is with two GPS workouts totaling about 90 minutes today. I've consistently got about 35-40 hours (basically two full nights of sleep and one day in between) of use per charge out of my S6 for the last year or so. Its battery health is 81%.

Wow! That’s impressive. I’m for happy for you and @arc of the universe

someday I might take the plunge to the Ultra, I prefer the non-ultra design by far, but it seems the only way to get 24 hours use … for me personally at least. (Series 7, 88% battery health )

It’s great, but I’m not sure what I’m doing right. I run and cycle a lot and always use my S6 to track my workouts. And yet I still never have any problems getting through 24 hours of use. The only thing I’ve done is disable the always on display. Don’t know how much that affects battery life though.

Series - 18 hours
Ultra - 36 hours
Ultra 2 on 10.1: 58% left after 35 hours, no features disabled. I would call that quite good 👍🏻

About the same, which is more than what I had hoped for. Leave the house at 6 am, come back at 5 pm, and when I turn in at 11 pm, it's usually at under 20%.
