Just upgraded from the 13 pro to 17 pro - while the 13 also had 4K I found I recorded in 1080p always. It is much smaller file size and I figured the quality difference was meh?

Trying things out now on the 17 I do see the difference but it’s also not massive while the file size is much bigger.

I’m not creating professional videos, it is mostly involving my dog though in my mind I still want great quality?

I do use Google Photos for backup, so in theory space isn’t a huge concern (though I will eat through that space much quicker!)

Do you guys use 4K or HD? Do you find you “regularly” switch between them?

(I do sort of wish there was a streamlined way to just “compress” to 1080p after the fact for videos where I know after the fact I want to keep but just don’t need in 4K)

I am not the best by the book example but i know the rules of the game.

If you have iCloud sync, then watching those hd versus 4k on your laptop really opens the eyes. 4k is very sharp that you can slice photos out of it.

Ideally you want to shoot in 4k, then assemble a video clip or just convert everything into 1080P as needed or even keep the 4K separately on your laptop/external ssd.

Obviously storing is an issue but i pay for 2TB and let it sit there for now (reference to my first sentence).

So yeah, you don’t see much difference because on a phone screen the difference is not much.
