Are you happy with your MBP M1, regardless of the rumored Non touch bar MBP M1X or M2 coming out?

I am still happy with my M1 MBP(my first with Touch Bar), not sure why TB is considered to be an issue.
I’m a touch typist and use the function keys without looking. It’s a fringe case for sure. I could use with external keyboard and do in clamshell. But it seems so odd to me that this is available only on some laptops and only in laptop mode.

Very happy.

I really don't care what's coming. Chasing tech advances is a fool’s errand. Computers are a tool, not a lifestyle.
I still see plenty of people using Macbook models that have the glowy Apple logo on the lid, and I believe they stopped making those around 2014, right? The typical MacRumors forum reader definitely upgrades way more often than non-enthusiast users, that's for sure. :D

Yeah, I would agree with that. I know a lot of people who basically buy every new phone, watch, tablet, or computer when it comes out. I think I said this in another forum, but Apple products are the 21st-century version of a Corvette, polyester shirt unbuttoned to the waist, and gold chains around the neck. And we all know what that means... 😂

I just upgraded my iPhone to a 12 from an 8. Now that I finally brought myself up to date with my MacBook and my phone, I'll be set for several years at a minimum I suspect.

The MR regular is definitely a different strain of Mac user. lol

I will keep mine.
It is excellent albeit I'm waiting Apple to solve the choppy scrolling in browser issue.
Except this annoyance I'm a happy camper.

You are using function keys for typing? What happened to your regular letter keys?

No. I’ll rephrase. i don’t need to look at keyboard to use it. I map some (fn) keys in .vimrc to do certain things. In SQL Developer I use to do certain things. In my Text Editor yet other things. The function keys are quite useful And my fingers know where they are relative to other keys without looking.

I don’t want a cute display bar messing up my keyboard. this is Apple‘s “New Coke” mistake. They’ll take it off.

It is a feature available to only a fraction of its users. It isn’t liked by all of of those, and it isn’t very useable for those that have difficulty with vision.

Sort of a strange question. If you really needed the things the new MBP will provide, the MBA was never a good choice, even with an M1.

That said, I have an M1 MBA, and will definitely also be buying the M-MBP when it comes out, regardless of the new design.

@wxnats

I have had my M1 MBA since launch day. Insane performance at this price point, it is twice as fast as my Late 2016 15" MBP that the MBA replaced. Battery life is incredible. This is my sixth Apple Laptop and is the best one I have had. Lack of fan is not an issue, laptop only get warm for extended gaming, otherwise always cold to the touch. The MBA will throttle the M1 Chip if pushed for extended time (basically gaming or Video editing rendering) but only about 10 to 15% reduction in performance. Given it is 100% faster than my old MBP, not an issue.

It has a P3 (wide colour gamut) screen for photo editing.

Apps launch super fast, instant on as soon as you open, UI is fluid and responsive.

It will make you love Mac all over again.

I bought the Air because I didn’t want Touch Bar.

Are you all happy with the 400 nit screen brightness?
Do any of you use an external monitor?

i want magsafe
i dont want TB

::never gonna happen::

"apple announces it will bring back magsafe and have TB-less options"

well **** me huh?

I'm 100% happy with the screen brightness--I'm not an ultra bright screen person, and I seldom take a notebook outside to work, so I would rarely be using it out in the sun.

I don't use it with an external monitor, because I usually have to have my work Mac attached to my two external monitors.

as a M1 air user for my usage this is more than enough and I don't see myself upgrading for a few years at least. likely to the redesigned air I imagine.
