Hi folks,

When I was preparing to upload a new binary today I got this message...

Are you updating this app because of a legal issue?

What kind of issue are they thinking of? I'll be sure to let them know when I get harassed by agents from the governments of Tokolau and Tobago for using the word fart too much in my app, what with farting being a patented process down there.

I wish the ppl at Apple had more of a sense of humor and were less nebulous. They need to tell their legal department to take a break.

Hm...

They might be making apps, which have been removed from sale by the developer, still downloadable to any prior customer's new devices. Unless, perhaps, the app was removed from sale (or is about to be removed from sale) by the developer due to legal problem (trademark, patent, copyright infringement, etc.)

But IANAL.

I think it's because of the new redownloading apps, if an old version is being removed for copyright infringement Apple doesn't want to keep distributing it. Redownloading includes apps that are no longer in the app store.
