TWIMC,

Got a C2D MBP, 2.16, 1GB. This notebook doesn't get very hot or anything. Even under heavy load. I remeber lookling at the CD MBP's in the stores a while back and touching areas around the computer to see how hot it was. They were on fire! One even left a little burn on my finger when I slowed drug the top part of my finder along the smooth metal strip above the F keys. Not noisy either except for when the fans speed up under something very procesor heavy but even then not that loud. Pretty suprised here. Any questions?

Yeah, i think ever since revision 2(core 2 duo) a lot of the noise and heat issues have been ironed out.

More confirmation on the validity of my waiting for C2D Merom MBPs!!!

Sure wish Apple would ship - I ordered my 2.33GHz, with 160GB HD, with initial shipping expected 10/31 (ordered on Tuesday night). Lots of folks ordering that same night have gotten shipping notification, but most of those appear to have been "matte" screens, whereas I'm getting a "glossy," which may cause a later ship?

Sure can't wait for this baby! wOOt!

:D :D :D

I think it's very amusing that people get amazed that Apple release a product that behaves in a way that every other manufacturer's products behave the first time around, not seven months later.

Just knowing that they're cooler and ALOT better spec'd compared to the Macbook, I'd rather pay the extra cash and get a pro machine to last me even longer.

...until they update the MB anyway (& my guess is very soon)

Doubtful. The Core Duo is more than enough for the MacBook line of laptops (remember when everyone thought they were only going to put the Core Solo chips in?), and now the MacBook Pro's have a nice advantage for a good price for those that need power, a dedicated GPU, a DL Superdrive, and FW800.

Glad to hear that it sounds like Apple finally figured this Intel crap out. I'm excited -- I want my new MBP now!

I dunno, my Apple store got a whole bunch of 2.33 Ghz Glossy's on friday. Too bad I want a matte screen. Damn you fate!

Agreed. I had THREE different White MB's back in May and June and each of them was utter garbage. They all had to be returned unfortunately. Maybe I was unlucky or something. Either way I decided to wait for the 2nd gen MBP and now that it's here I guess I am blinded by the fact that the wait is finally over and this computer actually appears that it is going to allow to get work done.

You know it's funny because I've been watching the front page MBP thread and there have been at least half a dozen posts with people complaining about not being able to find 2.33 GHz MBPs in gloss.

That's why its best to wait for a TRUE rev B product.

I got the same impression when I was playing with the 2.33 C2D MBP this weekend at my Apple Store. I made a point of touching the bottom of the laptop and I remembered thinking to myself how come this thing doesn't run as hot as the 1G MBP or the MB. It's really a pleasant surprise. I am waiting for my 2.33/160GB to arrive, and hopefully this baby is trouble free!

Generally, only people with problems complain.

I have never had a problem with any Mac I have ever owned other than the stained palmrest on my MacBook (fixed in one day ;) ).

iPods on the other hand........I have only owned one, but it has always had a bit of trouble turning on, as I need to do something special to make it do so, but that's another story.
