According to Apple's site, yes you get a three month free trial.

Have you already purchased the AppleTV? If so, go to this page and click the button to check eligibility. Guessing that you need an Apple ID and have activated the Apple TV for this to work.

I was under the impression you got some free months of AppleTV+ when you bought at AppleTV 4k? Not sure how to activate it though. Or am I misunderstanding?
Have you had the trial before? If so then it’s a one time only offer.
If not then you should see the Start Free Trial link under the atv+ tab in the ATV app, any eligible months should be added upon activation.

I remember when they had a longer trial (wasn't it even extended to a year?). They definitely only allowed one of those, no matter how many devices you bought. I didn't realize that the 3-month trial had that same restriction, but you're probably right. Anyway, it should tell you something if you go to the link I posted to check eligibility.

I spoke to Apple support and it was my fault. I had already redeemed a 30-day free trial which I had forgotten about. A bit annoying I guess but at the same time, it is only £5 a month so not the end of the world.

Yes, originally it was a year back when TV+ was first introduced. I bought the ATV 4K 2017 and got a full year. Six months later I bought an iPad Air 2020 and they added an additional 3 months, so I got 15 months for free. A few years later and TV+ still doesn't have much programming that I’m interested in, and when it was first released it had almost nothing, so a free year made sense then as no one really knew if it was worth getting since it was a brand new service.

Most companies with streaming services have a similar policy of only allowing the free trial once. A few will let you get it a second time if it has been at least a year since you last had an active subscription. Some companies are even more generous than that, but most are not and have a "once and done" policy.
