Yeah, ole' Christmas is coming and all the joyous jingling and jiggling and all that ho-ho.

And I need to get a gift for my girlfriend.

And I ain't got a clue what to get her.

Clothes? She's too picky, get her a piece and she'll accept it with big smiles and hugs, and keeps it only cuz she doesn't want to hurt my feelings. Screw that.

Cosmetics? She hardly ever uses them, and I know more about rocket science than I do about cosmetics and what she likes in cosmetics - which is nil.

DVDs? Way too boring, and she got a ton of these things already.

And that leaves me with... what?

We've been together for 3 months now, so I ain't gonna spend much. $30 maybe. $40 maximum.

Any tips/advice/reprisals ;)?

How about the body lotion for whatever perfume she wears? Shows you notice what she likes, you know she'll like the smell and it's something that although you buy the scent, you don't always splurge on.

Well I don't know what perfume she wears. Thinking of it, I don't think she've ever had perfume on during our relationship.

You can never go wrong with stuff from Bath & Bodyworks. Every girl I know absolutely digs that stuff. That includes my mom and my sisters.

I thought the fragrance idea(s) were pretty good suggestions. There are lots of pages and links listed for gift suggestions in the $40-60 range here.

depends on what she does/likes/etc. my girlfriend is a graphic designer so last year i got her a set of wood letterpress type off ebay, she loved that. this year i am going for the high-quality turkish bathrobe + slippers.

Bodyshop- type stuff is always good.
Maybe massage oil < :p

Gift certificate for massage - about $50

Gift certificate to her favorite store

A blanket you can share together...

some really good quality shampoo/conditioner and styling products, those are always good.

Truthfully, if you have known her for 3 months and she's close enough to be your girlfriend then you should be able to name at least two things she'd like. If you've been even more intimate with her then you should be able to name at least 5 things. The point is that you know her enough to date her exclusively and yet you can't find a gift.

I say giver her a bottle of lotion and a good candle and tell her to be done with it. No doubt she is out buying up a storm for your ass. ;) We chicks are like that.

I seriously dislike Bath and Bodyworks. I usually regift it when I get it.

I would go with a gift certificate or a spa treatment. If she has an iPod, get her a nice case. Juicy makes cools stuff.

I could have a best seller if only I knew how I did it...

My wife and I have an "allowance" system where we each get so much money every month to spend on stuff for ourselves, like clothes, work lunches, movies, electronics, various toys.

About 3 years ago my wife and I somehow entered into an agreement with gift giving that involves looking at our finances and deciding on a dollar amount for an occasion/group of occasions that we get to spend outside of our allowances. From there we each buy ourselves stuff to total up to that dollar amount and we both seem happy.

My co-workers are astonished at this masterful manipulation of the holidays and my ability to get through without the "romance" of our gifts even coming into question. And it's not like I was stingy on gifts for her, there were diamond earrings one year, and other jewelry/expensive items that she seemed to love, or at least appreciated my effort...

Of course now that we have a daughter with the second on the way, our holidays are secondary to theirs but we still simply decide on $x for the upcoming holiday(s) and each buy our own gifts...

If I could only instruct other men how to successfully implement this system I'd be a best selling author.

There should be a web site where a guy can punch in some key stats on his girl friend so that he knows what to get. In an event I am clueless about what to get, I will go with a gift card.
