Has anyone here integrated the Arlo Video Doorbell into HomeKit? I know it’s a new integration and I’m interested but I can’t find anything on YouTube. Was hoping for some more info. I’m a little torn between this and the Logitech View Doorbell. Up until now, I been using the Nest Hello with Starling. I’m pleased with it so far but it was always meant to be an interim solution until a native solution was released. Only thing I don’t like about the Logitech is the HSV HomeKit only. I like redundancy, especially with cameras, so prefer a manufacturers app as well, in case HomeKit gets fussy. What I don’t like about the Arlo is no option for HSV.

Had an Arlo video doorbell and returned it for a Nest Hello. The Arlo took way too long to show video. I'd get a notification that someone rang the door, or there was motion. Then it'd routinely take 20-30 seconds to actually show video.

The Nest is way better. I use it with a Starling and it's basically flawless. IMO stick with the Nest.

Thanks for that info. I tried a couple of the outdoor Arlo cams when it first got HomeKit support and it also took about that long to show video, but only in HomeKit, not the Arlo app. I assumed it was because it’s a wireless camera. Was thinking they fix this by now and the doorbell is wired. Arlo gets rave reviews surprisingly enough...

I am getting some issues with the Starling as of late which is prompting me to check out other options. No matter how many times I reboot it, all of the tiles don’t show up and if I change the name of one tile, it changes a few of them to that new name. Home occupancy switch works intermittently. There’s also a mysterious motion tile that I can’t seem to figure out what it’s for.

Not sure if you are still interested but I just got one and will install today and report back.
Yes, if it’s no trouble to you. I was at Best Buy picking up a TV and saw this doorbell on sale so I picked one up. The weather here in NY has been atrocious though and my porch is really icy so I held off on installing it but I’d like to get multiple opinions.

Now the issue is getting a Base Station to integrate into HomeKit. Hard to find them new from reputable dealer and the used ones on eBay don’t accept returns. If it’s no good, then I’ll be stuck with a Base Station if I return the doorbell. Thanks.

So got it installed and got solid amber lights which means my transformer for my doorbell isn’t strong enough. Have to crawl through the attic to swap out transformers. Why can’t anything be easy?

I hear ya... I should have twice the amount of my projects done but I’m always running into something. Appreciate you getting back to me even if you got sidetracked.

What did you have before this one? Traditional? Thank goodness my Nest Hello worked on the transformer I already have so I’m assuming the Arlo will too. I just moved into my house in May 2020 and I couldn’t find the doorbell transformer if my life depended on it, in case I did have to replace it. I assume it’s mounted behind the wall but I despise drywall work so I left it alone lol.

It shouldn’t be behind drywall since it has a junction.

I had a traditional doorbell before this.

unfortunately I have no one to blame but myself. House was gutted two years ago and I had to rewire the whole thing to bring it up to code. I also rewired the transformer and didn’t future proof it for a video doorbell. Cause I’m stupid!!!!!

I can’t even find mine lol. Wanna trade?

Returning this stupid thing. First of all, the app constantly sends you push notifications while someone is standing at the door. Once motion is detected it should keep sending push notifications. I was all a test call with the doorbell and got 6 notifications of motion. So stupid.

real reason I am returning it. Can’t use with HomeKit without additional equipment. Need to pay $100 plus to have a base station to make it work. I’m not spending $250 for a stupid doorbell. Peace out Arlo.

Figure out which breaker it is on and that can narrow down your search. It was helpful knowing where mine was since it was buried under a blanket of blown in insulation. Definitely like finding a needle in a haystack.

Sheesh, that was fast lol. In all fairness, the HomeKit app does the same thing with notifications and it is very annoying. Should at least give the option to snooze them for 5,15,30 mins. How fast did a notification come through? That was one of the biggest complaints I read. That notifications are very slow. Does not sound promising though. So that’s two negative reviews. Maybe the Logitech Circle View Doorbell? I just don’t know anymore... Definitely appreciate your input.

Which brings up another issue. I had to re-label a lot of my breakers as I come across them. Whoever created it did an awful job. Had to practically shut down my whole house to find the switches for my great room lights. Turns out the circuit they are on is labeled garage lights hahaha. I’m not even exaggerating.
