I'm using the "Rectangle" app as a window sizer/mover/arranger solution. It's free and great and works for 90% of any window arranging I ever want to do.
One use case I can't figure out how to do either as a built-in feature or with a window manager tool, is something like "Take all windows of the currently running app, and distribute them evenly across the display taking up as much space as possible".
Simple example of this would be something like: running Safari with 3 separate windows open (not just tabs, actual separate windows); run this imaginary command and they are organized to be the same size and place side by side by side, each taking up 1/3rd of the screen. So far so good, and rectangle can do this (for 2/3/4/6 windows anyway).
Where it gets harder is when you have either a weird number of windows ... like say I had 7 or 9 safari windows and I want them all vertically next to each other with the same width ... or if you have differently shaped windows. For example, you have quicktime open and are playing 4 movies at once, but they are not all the same aspect ratio; so I want some sort "maximize size and screen usage, but preserve all the aspect ratios" approach in that scenario.
Does this exist?
