Having been without my Tascam DM-24 for months, I am forced to do something to get my digital audio flowing again.

My Heil PR-40 needs a pre-amp. By itself, the mAudio Fast Track Pro doesn't provide enough power. I'd rather not have to process digital gain in post-production.

Anyone have experience with the ART Tube MP Project Preamp? (Musician's Friend link). I don't need the USB version (unless I can be compelled otherwise). I'm on somewhat of a budget, but I'd like to get recording again. The recording community seems to find great value in the MP Project model.

And while I'm at it... can anyone suggest a pop-filter that will mount reasonably to a Heil PL2T? My old cheap one is WAY too big for my microphone and scratches the boom.

Thanks!
