Very interesting article on how Facebook declared total war on Google Plus, except reading the article it seems Google beat themselves from the start....

In Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg built not just a business, but a company culture with the fervor of a messianic sect. So, in June 2011, when Google launched Google Plus, Zuckerberg put his company into lockdown. In an adaption from his new book on Silicon Valley, former Facebook employee Antonio García Martínez describes the war that followed.
Interesting how seriously Mark Zurkcerberg took the threat by placing his employees in "lockdown" meaning they had to remain available 24/7. Also interesting how Google essentially "faked" numbers of people using Google Plus because it was linked to practically every other Google product: want to comment on youtube, open a Google plus profile and so on.
