I currently have lots of blank songs scattered throughout my playlist . eg track 1 artwork, track 2 artwork track 3 blank, track 4 artwork etc.. for allot of albums

rather than choosing get info and hitting forward arrow when display Artwork to find one that's "blank" can i just view the missing artwork via iTunes window?

I look under view options and although Artwork can be displays along-side songs, its "per-album", not "per-song" which is what i need.

Use the "Playlist" view instead of "Song" view. If the blurred background bothers you, you can also just do a Smart Playlist that points to whatever playlist you're in, and then set the "Album Artwork" criteria to "is false". It'll still group the songs into albums, but they'd just be the tracks with no artwork.
