I still find this program completely unusable and un-Maclike. Is anyone actually using and liking the program? I've had macs since 1985 and have been a mac consultant so i'm familar with everything that's out there. I use iLife and recommend macs every day, but the Address Book and iCal are the clumsiest programs I've ever used on the mac. I love the integration, and even though I prefer Entourage to Mail, I use Mail because of the way it interfaces with Address Book. I like Address Book's integration with iChat. But ultimately, I had to switch back to Now Contact and Now Up-to-Date for the speed and usability. Now I use another app that syncs my Now Contact database to Address Book as a workaround.
But trying to be constructive here, I don't mind the planner layout in iCal, I think it's the To Do management that seems non-intuitive. And why isn't a Memo/Notes program built-in, to complete the PDA syncability of the program? And why isn't there a quick-access to contacts/schedule/to-do as a drop-down menu in the finder like there is in so many other programs?
And if you can only do calendar sharing with other ical/mac users (read: 5% of the world), I'm surprised they put so much time and energy and marketing into that feature. I added movie openings, but that's the only time I can imagine using the calendar sharing thing.
I think they need a whole new team to take over iCal and save it. I'd be interested in hearing other opinions about their iCal experience...
