Help!? I have been investigating how to encode an asf file into something usable in DVD Pro or FCP. I'v been trying to us ffmpegX and can only seem to get usable audio. Whenever I encode the video into something like mpg2, all I ever can get is a video that is either completely whited out or a video that flashes shots of the video but is mostly white screen. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks.

I should add that i've also tried the freeware version of flip4mac to no avail...

Try a transcode with VLC.

When you open a file, there's a "Streaming/Saving" option where you can have the player output into other formats. If it plays in VLC, you can re-encode it to another format.

I tried the VLC and wasn't able to get a usable file. All I got was something labeled with ".asf, access=file}" at the end...any clues as to the process?

To let you know I've also tried mpegstreamclip and can't get video to show up...
