I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum for posting this, but I just got a macbook and am connecting it to a 20" Dell 2007 WFP monitor. The resolution for the monitor is 1680x1050. I've selected that in the Macbook system preferences>displays and on the external monitor, the picture looks clean but is considerably smaller than the full screen of the monitor both in height and width.

I'm using a vga to mini-dvi adapter. Does anyone have any suggestions? The monitor has a DVI input, so I could try DVI to mini-dvi.

Are you using it as a mirror of your MBP screen?

I'm using it as a mirror to my MB screen. However, I figured out that if I close the screen on the MB, the display on the Dell 2007WFP resizes to fit the entire screen. Kind of strange, but it solves my problem.
