I plan to have my friends buy the iPhone 14 Pro Max for me because I absolutely need a phone with physical SIM card slot.(required because I usually carry 6 or more foreign SIM cards when I travel for work, in addition to having a work Pixel phone on Google Fi)

Anyway... I only have trustworthy close friends in these 3 countries: Germany, Japan, Canada Not sure which one yet. (trustworthy = I'm completely comfortable with mailing my credit card to them to make the purchase) I will visit all of those countries before November and I'll ask them to hold the phone for me until I visit them.

Once I'm back in the US with the phone, will Apple(US) provide warranty service if the phone ever experiences hardware problems? Or will I have to ship it to the friend in whichever country the phone was purchased from?(not that of a deal, since I travel to those countries at least 4 times each every year for work... but obviously it's easier if it can be serviced in the US)

They may be able to just repair if necessary but as for a whole device replacement unit, unlikely because US won't carry replacement units that has a sim tray for the iphone 14's.

It’ll be fine in terms of warranty, however if you encounter a situation where the entire device needs to be replaced, Apple Stores in the U.S. will replace it with a eSIM-only model.
 
Also note that iPhones sold in Germany (A2894) don't have mmWave 5G frequency bands that most US carriers use, and iPhones sold in Japan and Canada (A2893) don't have the n71 5G frequency band that Tmobile uses.

And Japan iPhones have a camera shutter sound that you can't shut off.

since I'll never use T-Mobile, I guess I'll be buying the Canadian version. :)

(T-Mobile signal has been non-existent or nearly unusable in my area for a very long time... used to be excellent up until 2018)
 
The Japan/Canada model doesn’t have mmWave either.

mmWave is basically for lab use only. It can't be used in practical settings because the signal gets blocked by buildings. Mid-band 5G already hits 3 Gbits/sec with T-Mobile.

Suppose you buy the device in Japan. It has no warranty service in any other Country in JAPAN. You Need to send the Phone to japan to get serviced warranty service!

hi, I live in japan. if you need service apple care or a 1-year new purchase. If you buy in japan you can only get japan service. You would need to send it back to Japan warranty service. Otherwise, they will charge you for repairs, etc.
