Assigning function keys on Macbook?

F9-F12, I never really use, so was wondering if I could assign them to do play/pause, next, previous track like on the Apple Keyboard.
 
Might be able to do it like this (open System Preferences, go to Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts):
