My buddy lives down the hall from me in my dorm, but his computer froze and won't display anything. His shared library is coming into my iTunes but I can't download it to back up for him onto my external hard drive in case the worst happens. Any tips on how to get a shared music library off of the LAN and onto a hard-drive. Thanks in advance.

There's no way (that I know of) to do that, but is it possible for you to play the songs from his shared library? Another option would be to try to access his system remotely and gain full access to his HDD? That may give you the opportunity to salvage what might be on there.
is the problem a possible lost library? if you can access it through a network, then the harddrive is fine.... extract the harddrive?
