Assistance with VLC needed

I have Terminator 2 saved as a .mov file and I'm trying to export it as an appropriate video format so my PS3 can properly play it when I stream it. When I open the video using Quicktime, everything works fine. When I open the same file using VLC, the picture is good, but there is absolutely no sound. When I export using VLC, the newly formated file produces no sound as well. Assistance please!
