I bricked my watch by taking it too deep in the ocean; luckily I had insurance, so replacement only cost $99.

When I go to iCloud Find Devices on my Mini, only one Series 10 Watch shows, the one on my wrist.

When I look at my Apple Account on my iPhone, I see both Series 10 Watches, and it seems like the bricked one is the one showing all the Verizon details (phone number, etc), even though the replacement is operating like it should.

The instructions for return don't mention anything about the iPhone view, just the iCloud view, so it seems like I'm good to go through with the return, but Asurion warns that if I don't do it right I could be charged an extra $300.

Any help in my understanding would be appreciated.

I've never heard of Asurion but have you tried contacting them to find out exactly what you need to do?

Hey, do you happen to have AppleCare theft and loss coverage for your watch? I’ve heard that if you need to file a claim for it, you can’t turn off Find My iPhone at all, unless an Apple Store employee tells you to do so for trade-in or repair, or if you unpair or wipe the data off your Apple Watch (and once AppleCare is transferred to the new user’s Apple account), to erase it to sell or give away.

who is Asurion? private insurance company?
you say you bricked the watch - did you actually un-pair it? I am guessing no.
How did you setup your replacement watch? new or restore from backup?
and yes, as mentioned, contact the insurance and ask them

Firstly, if you've never heard of Asurion, have you never bought a mobile devise through one of the major cellular providers in the United States? Since my first cel phone, way back in the 90's, there has been a Asurion insurance plan available through every cellular provider, for every cellular device I've purchased.

Secondly, due to the AI hoops one must jump through to get information out of most providers in today's mobile industry, this thread was my attempt to sidestep the frustration.
