I just got a refurb 2.8 quad Mac Pro running the ATI 5770 GPU. In picked up a new Asus VS229h-p display to go with it. It's a 22" 1920x1080 LED IPS display and it's hooked up with DVI. The colors look great but text is blurry and jagged looking. It is really annoying. I played around with the settings and can't seem to fix it. I am on the verge of returning it, but are all other LED matte screens this bad with text? I am coming from a 20" iMac 1680x1050 with the glass screen so maybe my eyes just need to adjust to a matte display? Would it improve at all if I connected the display to the Mac pro via HDMI? I could get a Mini display port to HDMI adapter. Or wouldn't that make a difference? Any tips or advice? Thanks

It sounds like you've either gotten the wrong resolution or you have overscan turned on.

Wrong resolution would be fixed by choosing the native resolution of the display.

Overscan can be disabled easily by unchecking the overscan compensation checkbox.
