im debating on getting the Asus PB278Q , but i was wondering if i can buy a adapter for a usb connection cable thingy.

its not a big dealer breaker if the adapter doesn't exist .

Are you talking about the fact that the monitor doesn't have a built in USB hub? IMHO I've never seen an in-monitor USB that was any simpler than a basic desktop hub such as this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IBCQN14/

BTW, you might also look at the Planar PXL2790MW monitor.

If you're asking if you can get an adapter to use one of these ports to give you a USB port, then no I don't believe so.
If you must have a built in USB hub, consider the Asus PA279Q. It's a substantially more expensive monitor as it improves on the PB278Q in other areas as well. Alternately consider the Planar PXL2790MW.

Perhaps if you describe what you are trying to achieve then people might be able to suggest a way to do whatever that is.
