Its a yearly theme that Asus-routers or consumer routers are getting hacked these days. Mostly cuz they have gone EOL or haven't been updated..

Thousands of ASUS WRT routers, mostly end-of-life or outdated devices, have been hijacked in a global campaign called Operation WrtHug that exploits six vulnerabilities.

I was a bit worried when seeing the headline on El Reg, as the home router is a few month old ASUS. It was a relief to see that the hack was for "ancient" WRT routers, but figured it was a good idea to check for updates on my router which was promptly installed.

I like the UI on the ASUS routers.
