After succesfully running a dual boot drive setup (60 Gig Vertex 2 SSD, and 500 GB HDD) for a over a year and a half, a problem has now arised, and it is a big one!
It started yesterday, everything was working fine, I had finished up some work and closed my laptop. When I opened it again an hour later, it had frozen, so I gave it a hard reset. After that, the only thing that would come up is a gray screen.
After a few hours of troubleshooting yesterday, running the snow leopard startup disk to check disk utility where it appeared both my drives were fine. I even had a Mac repair shop run disk warrior on both drives to repair any issues. I also decided to switch the harddrive from its original location to the optibay, the SSD now sits where the harddrive was originally placed when shipped.
In the end, this allowed me to start my computer and login.
However, now I am running into all sorts of issues, I cannot empty the trash, make new folders, use Photoshop or iTunes.
In disk utility both disks show no errors, however I cannot verify or repair permissions on my HDD where my library folder sits, maybe this is the issue?
Does anyone have any idea on how I can actually use my computer again?
Could me switching locations of the HDD an SSD be the culprit for all of the permission errors? For some reason I cannot put them back to the way they originally were placed or I am stuck at the grey screen...
