anyone know if the AT&T 5S will work on the T-Mobile LTE bands?

looking to buy 2 5S's before the year is out and break the contract some time around early 2015 to go to t-mobile on their prepaid plans and take the phones with me

I was wondering the reverse, if the T-Mo unlocked version will work on ATT LTE. In another thread someone said yes, but then why in the iPhone 5 and 5c do they sell an "unlocked GSM" and "unlocked t-mobile" version?

i know that t-mo has flaky 3g frequencies that are a pain in the a$$ to support

It's not an "unlocked t-mobile" version. It's an unlocked phone that comes with a T-Mobile SIM that you don't have to use. The unlocked iPhone 5 works on both AT&T and T-Mobile LTE bands.

what about the att one? once AT&T unlocks it, will it work on t-mobile lte bands?

IF they unlock it for you, yes.

There are two models of the 5S this time around, the 1533 and the 1456.

Notice how the 1533 supports Verizon, ATT and T-Mobile. If you get the 1533 carrier unlocked (option that comes with a T-Mobile SIM), or you buy it from a carrier and can get them to unlock it, it will work on any of the three.

thx

apparently the LTE is OK its the HSPA that will be the problem. wonder if ios 7 will fix it since the hardware in the t-mobile iphone 5 is the same as the slightly newer att ones

No, it can't be fixed in software.

However, the new 5c and 5s will support LTE and HSPA every where T-Mobile has service even in non-refarmed areas.

It's a real bummer that Apple won't release a "global" version in the US. I want one with ATT bands, but I also want to be able to roam onto LTE networks abroad as I travel frequently. It drives me nuts on my iPhone 5, great having LTE in the US, but when I go to Asia or South America it's all 3G because of the band issue. :-(
