i think it has to do with the fact that i'm trying to upgrade a line that is not already an iphone. i may not be able to preorder tonight. :confused::confused:

is it not possible to upgrade a dumb phone line to a smart phone line!?
 
Got my order in. Super easy through AT&T. Haven't gotten my email confirmation yet, though.

Edit: Confirmation in! :) Much easier than last year, though I'm sure the fact that the upgrade splash page was still 'waiting' helped. Thanks for the direct link!

Odd thing is it seems to have the data plan listed twice in my receipt...one with and one without visual voicemail, but that's fixed easily enough if for some reason it does appear on my monthly bill that way.

Back to bed!

Get the same error message, I have Iphone 4 with corporate discount plan. What a waste of time?:mad:

Existing AT&T Customer - Can Use the Apple Store

Premier Customers - I didn't know this until I tried (trying the AT&T site for 30 minutes with continued errors), you can use the Apple Store to upgrade an "existing" line to upgrade to iPhone 5.

Apple will log you into AT&T, check eligibility, and walk you through the process. Took 5 minutes once I realized this.
