Wow, good find, but I would be pretty angry if I were a 3g customer. Hopefully Apple Stores will still have them in stock to replace broken phones that are within warranty.

Considering that they still have the original iPhone available for warranty replacements, I wouldn't worry about that.

This makes me believe we will be able to buy the new iphone within days after WWDC.

Why? The original iPhone was unavailable from the beginning of May and the iPhone 3G didn't come out until July.

And Apple admitted that they'd cocked up on that one I think - didn't they say they underestimated demand around the May-June period?

I am holding out for the new iPhone, so I hope it comes out shortly after. However, I think we are looking at a July release. That's what happened last year. Plus there are way too many "sources" saying July 17th.

My bad, wrong "sign".

Hmmm. Why would someone be calling AT&T Customer Service about the death of their iPhone? Everyone knows you have to contact Apple about this. I guess the dead iPhone could be original iPhone, but who in their right mind would be calling up AT&T right now asking to buy a 3G? You would think a customer savvy enough to know about Appleinsider would know there is a new iPhone coming out in a very short amount of time. I believe there will be a new iPhone, but this story sounds fishy. Shenanigans has been called.

Maybe they did it purposely just to find out this information?

They'll announce it on the 8th and it will go on sale in July, just like last year. This way it gives them another month of production

What? and not have any iphones to sell for a month like last year? That was a huge screwup on apple's part. It's like a company taking their best sell item off the market for a month two years in a row. How stupid is that?
