For those of you that don't have an unlimited text plan with AT&T my issue might be of interest to you.

I couldn't justify paying for AT&T's unlimited text plan so what I did was get their 200 text plan for $5 a month and use a free unlimited texting app instead. The AT&T 200 text plan is perfect for unexpected texts to my cell number, but I try to let people know I have another number specifically for texting. Anyway, my AT&T hard copy bill showed I had more texts than what was shown on the detailed usage page online. After several calls to AT&T I was able to get them to correct the issue.

The AT&T bill no longer shows the dates and numbers for texts and calls. Customers automatically assume their is correct and pay it, without ever checking the actual usage details online. This information used to be on the hard copy bills and removing it gives AT&T an advantage, because most consumers won't take that extra step to check their actual usage.

Just something to think about if you don't want to be overcharged by AT&T.
