Recently I moved my lines into an at&t business account. I have a premier login now and my phone line is in a billing account that is a CRU. When I go to the at&t premier login and check my eligibility it says I am eligible for an upgrade. But when I use apple's eligibility upgrade tool it gives me a message saying. "We're sorry. The AT&T account you have is a business account. Please contact your company's telecom amnager or AT&T account manager to complete your iPhone purchase."

So I am wondering if I will even be able to get an iPhone from an apple store. Or am I kinda stuck getting a 5s through AT&T corporate store? Or through premier online store only?

Thanks for any insight.

I am in the same position and would love to know if anyone has had experience with this

We're a biz/premier account also. We've had to get our phones from AT&T store, which I actually find to be a blessing. Piece o cake. (At least, on 4S launch day, I just walked right in and got the phones... no lines, no hassle.)

I actually stopped by the apple store and asked one of the employees there. They referred me to two business specialists who both said that there will be no issue upgrading an AT&T business account in the store. Just online you need to go through your carrier.

I wanted to make sure he was 100% sure and showed him the app store app saying that because I'm on a business account I cant use the app or make purchases online. He says he was aware and not to worry about it - as long as I do not add a line to my account. Upgrading will work though.

Problem solved.

This is probably a really dumb question, but are business/premier accounts the same thing as having a FAN discount? I'm trying to figure out what kind of account my parents have, as my line is on their account.
When I got my 4S I went through AT&T so I have no idea if I can go through Apple or not.

I agree. Test it out now though. Go to apples website and make believe you are ordering a 4S. Or if you read this tomorrow, try preordering the 5C. Go up until you need to enter credit card info. If you get that far, you are good to go. That's how I prepared for the 5 preorder last year, and doing it again for 5S

When I go to apple's website and try to purchase a new phone or pre-order a 5c I get the error message in my first post.

This won't happen in an Apple store on launch day?

that's weird. I do not get any such error and I have a premier account as well.

Has anyone ever done a cross update (using someone else's update in your family) at an apple store? I have a $50 gift card I want to use.

During the iPhone 5 launch last year, Apple only dealt with Verizon business accounts. I know all too well because instead of getting an iPhone 5 on launch day, I ended up having to order it through AT&T on september 30th which wasn't delivered till October 27th. That's been changed since then and now they do deal with AT&T business accounts but from what I've been told, only in store. You still can't order from Apple's website.
