AT&T: can I activate an iPhone that was not ordered through my #?

I have a family plan with 2 iPhone 3GS. My wife ordered a 64 Gb iPhone 4s and I ordered the 32 Gb version. We want to swap phones. Will I be able to activate the 64Gb iPhone on my line? Or is it tied to the mobile number?

you can always just switch the sims then plug into iTunes and set each phone up with the apps, music, photos, etc that you want.

Yes, I did think of that. But my wife wants to keep her 3GS. So instead of returning both phones, I figure I would keep the 64Gb and return just the 32Gb.

ok, so swap the sims into whatever phones you want them in and return the others.... doesn't matter if it's a 4S or 3GS.

If I remember correctly though the 3GS used mini sim, and the 4S uses micro sim. You will either have to go into att and ask them for the correct sized sims for number and the corresponding device you want service for or you will need to google how you can cut and modify a mini sim into a micro sim.

Get a micro sim for your number and put it in the 64GB phone she ordered. When the 32GB comes, just return it.

Depends on who you ordered the phone with. If you ordered via Apple it's tied to the number. I ordered on another line and had to take the SIM card out that line to activate my 4S last week and then swap the lines.
