No discounts on data even on fans. iPad is month to month.

Through my employer I am also eligible for a discount on AT&T service and on my iPhone data plan, however not on the iPad data plans.

One alternative is to change to the plan that allows you to tether to the iPhone with 4gb of data. I believe at my employer this does qualify for the discount.

there is employee discount varying from 15% to 25% if you sign up a two year contract. if you want month by month then no discounts.

How about for the $45 tethering plan as an add on? I presume I would get the same % as I do now on the $25 or $30?

It depends on the fan. Some companies get discount on data and some don't. You are going to have to check with AT&T. Some companies get discount on both data and voice and some don't.
