News or rumor:
It appears AT&T really wants that 2-year commitment for the new discounted phones. A user will not be able to use it as a prepaid phone even if their credit is poor. I'm certain this new policy, though understandable, will ruffle more than a few feathers. (Maybe AT&T will realize the can have people pay $200 more for the iPhone to get the Go Phone plan.)
AT&T used to complain that Apple had too much control over pricing. Now terms are crafted by the carriers.
