I'm sure this question has been answered multiple time so sorry in advance, but I'm just so confused.

I am on a 5 line grandfathered At&t plan (not mobile share) where we all have various levels of our own data, etc.

in the past I have switched off upgrades with my dad to have a new device each year. Currently I have an iPhone 6 with unlimited data.

If I were to go to At&t Next 12, essentially I'd be paying $77.50 ($32.50 for phone + $45 for the Next program without the mobile share discount) each month to rent my phone, correct?

So bottom line here is pay the $199, 2 year contract, leave my plan and be done with it. Agreed? Or am I missing something?

No. if you go with next 12 and stick with the plan you have, you pay just $32.50/mo for the phone. Where do you get your $45/mo from? Your rate plan can still stay the same if you end up doing next for w/e reason. I mean, if you're sticking with the grandfathered plan, it def would be cheaper to stick w/ the 2 yr contract...

I believe at&t charges a $40/month access fee for the Next program. If you're on a mobile share plan, you get a $25 discount making the monthly fee $15. I think anyway....

Those access fees only come into play if you're on an MSV (Mobile share value), which you're not.

So you're saying that with my legacy subsidized plan and unlimited data, if I were to go with Next, the only change in my bill and plan would be the monthly cost of the device? No monthly fee?

Still planning on doing the $199 contract, but just trying to understand completely!

There's the monthly cost of the device + an access fee (on mobile share)
