When I ordered the 17 Pro Max, there was an offer to trade in my 16 Pro Max. It was the only phone that had free eligibility of the three on my account.
Now I am getting emails from AT&T to trade in my oldest iPhone, a 14 Pro Max.
That is great news, I can switch out my 16 PM to my wife who is using the 14.

Is there any way to verify the return AT&T is expecting? Can I see the IESM? number?
Thanks,

You can trade in any qualifying phone that meets the criteria for the $1100 and a 14 Pro Max definitely qualifies. They don't care which phone number it's associated with, nor the IMEI. Just the phone model, in the condition as expected.

The fine print on their website will confirm.

Buy a 13 it can be in any condition to qualify for the trade . You would be a moron to trade anything that is not the regular 13. Walmart has a 13 for $199.

if you're trading in a phone that is currently part of the Next program, there is no credit, is there? e.g. trading in a 14PM that is on month 20 of a 36 month next agreement. Eligible to trade, but it's just a straight trade, right, no credits?

It showed my 16PM as having no payments left on it. The other 2 had balances.
My rationale was, it would be just swapping the 16 for the 17, nothing changes payment wise.
Then AT&T send me an email to trade in the 14PM on my account.
I also assume AT&T is going to send a prepaid box to return the phone.

Never do a trade by mail. Go to a local store and get a receipt. You are also leaving a bunch of money on the table trading in that model. Find a broken 13 or get a new one for $199.
