Do the plans include text messages? Me & my dad are planning to get these phones later. This tethers me between At&t and Verizon.

no, text plans are separate. there is a 200 msgs for $5 a month (not good). then there is 1500 for $15 individually. or $30 for an unlimited family text plan. there is also a 750 for $7.50, but it requires feature codes.

Yeah, the $30 family plan is the way to go.
