If im not mistaken, the AT&T iPhone is a world phone and has both GSM and CDMA chips. or a 2 in 1 chip.

So could I take an AT&T iPhone 4S and activate it with my Verizon Wireless Service?

You should call Verizon first, imo. I'm assuming they can answer this pretty quickly!

I'm also presuming you have a 2 year contract renewed so you need to talk to AT&T about the ETF. Why didn't you just go sign at Verizon instead?

why are your presuming that?

I'm simply asking if an AT&T iPhone 4s can be activated on Verizon service.

From what I've read around here, the AT&T iPhones are still locked while the Verizon and Sprint ones are unlocked. So I think you can do the opposite of what you want. I;m in Canada though so can't test this myself

is it possible to lock a CDMA?

Seems like it's just if verizon wants to activate it or not.

No you can't.

CDMA phones must be sold thru the carrier to be able to work that way.

You can confirm this reading the description of the unlocked GSM phones on apples website.

oh, for some reason I thought that the unlocked one only had a GSM chip in it. pretty stupid of me.

so that means world phone only means the CDMA abroad is only meant for roaming purposes.

that's pretty messed up, I hate verizon.

When you got to apple's site to order the iPhone it says "Your
iPhone will only work with the carrier you choose.". Says unlocked versions will be available next month.
