It seems that WiFi calling is garbage! I was on my iPhone 7 Plus phone for 2 hours today with my server support team and they constantly said I sounded garbled or like I was talking from a can. I thought WiFi calling was supposed to be good? Why does it sound like ****!

I use AT&T wifi calling quite frequently, mostly when I travel internationally to various countries in Asia and Europe. Call quality has been excellent, although I'll have an issue sending text messages once in a blue moon. Overall, I'm very pleased. No complaints here.

Perhaps just more of an isolated anecdotal bad connection type of experience that happens with all kinds of different calls once in a while for many people here and there?

I've used wifi calling extensively and have never had anyone complain about the connection. Try calling someone else and see if it was an isolated issue.

Perhaps your internet connection or internal network is to blame? I've had no problems with AT&T Wi-Fi calling since its launch. I use it everyday. Calls have been crystal clear and I can't recall anyone complaining that I sound garbled or talking from a can.

If you can try another phone, I recommend doing so. If you have the same results on another phone, I recommend looking into your internet connection or your internal network to make sure they're up to par.

No issues here using iPhone 7 Plus ATT, use wifi calling at home regularly (poor to no LTE coverage in basement and other areas of the house), clarity is excellent. You shoud try another call, it could have been on their end of the connection or just a bad wifi connection?

No issues with WiFi calling. Use it all the time at the gym.

Also is your WiFi calling bouncing back and forth between Cellular and WiFi calling?

Just answered an incoming call and all I could hear was "crackling". I disconnected the call and the person recalled back right away then it sounded fine..

Try restarting your phone or resetting network settings? Will have to enter wifi and stuff again, but may fix the issue.

I have been using AT&T Wi-Fi calling since it came out, and have found it to be very reliable, with consistently excellent sound quality. I've used it on both my previous 6 Plus and my current 7 Plus.

OP - What have you done to diagnose this? Have you tried different phones at your location? Have you tried Wi-Fi calling at other locations? What are you using for a router? Any error messages logged in the router log?

Also, - as someone else asked - is the connection bouncing between cellular and Wi-Fi? You might try to lock the connection to Wi-Fi, by putting your phone into Airplane mode, and then turning Wi-Fi back on. Does this make it work better?

Question guys. Used wifi calling on att 7 plus unlocked phone every time no issues. Even used on the plane no issues with calls or text. Used it on a wifi hotspot from Karachi Pakistan airport to the ride home at my in laws in the car no issues.

The moment I got home it said no service. Tried airplane mode on off phone on off nothing. I then got a VPN restarted and it comes and the moment I try to make a call says call failed and back to no service.

Obviously it does and has worked but not sure if it's the country or what? I'm on a VPN which fixed not being able to access certain sites but not sure what's causing this.

Can someone help?

I often fine when people call me from a switchboard line - I can't hear them at all (garbled) but when I call them back it's flawless. When I am in certain parts of my condo, I get no AT&T coverage but I have good connectivity on Wifi.

That's what I was going to say.
It has to do with the wifi network you're connected and certain ports that might be restricted, speed, latency, how loaded is the network etc.
When I'm at my works wifi the wifi calling sucks and cuts out.
When I'm at home the wifi calling is solid and crystal clear ;)
