For reference, here is a screenshot of my At&t iPad with LTE in Houston, TX

How do the two compare? Is one generally faster than the other? Are the two pretty much the same? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Depends on what area you live in to be honest. Where I live in the Philly Suburbs, AT&T clearly blows Verizon away. Here is a speed test that I ran on Sunday when I noticed LTE on my AT&T iPad 3 for the 1st time. Also a comparison speed test that I did using one of Verizon's LTE android devices in the same area.

I'm personally glad to be with AT&T. Looks like they're taking their time in rolling out LTE with pay off in the end compared to Verizon's quick patch jobs.

I won't get LTE near Detroit area for a while but at least their 4G speeds are very good.

i cant wait till friday,.we got att and verizon here in raleigh, NC

happy i stuck with att..looks like their LTE network is faster..as well as their 3g network

It just stops you to think that just shy of seven years ago these speeds would of been unheard of even for home broadband. Let alone cellular connections.

AT&T launched LTE in Philadelphia on Friday-Saturday (by the way, I live in Northeast Philly).

I can't believe how fast LTE is. My hometown can't get higher than 10 without getting a package made for businesses.

Wow.. After seeing this I need to dump Sprint ASAP. Idk what I would do with 40Mbps, especially when I'm getting 0.2 lol.

The true test will be after this launch. Lte networks are about to get stressed by iPhones now.

Two weeks ago I met a senior tech for the company installing LTE for AT&T. He told me the Baltimore area is getting between 56 Mbps and 58 Mbps. Guess I'll find out for myself on Friday:). Can't wait!

Awesome! Looks like Verizon is much better in NYC!

What kills me is that when you go to any ATT store in Chicago and run tests from their phones, you get ~20Mbps, but as soon as you step outside the store plummets down to ~5. How can they be allowed to deliberately mislead their customers.

Check out www.rootmetrics.com. They measure data speeds in most US cities.

In Chicago, Verizon's LTE network is 2x as fast as AT&T's. And AT&T cannot easily fix that. Source: http://rootmetrics.com/press-releas...ns-lte-is-twice-as-fast-as-att-in-windy-city/

They're pretty inaccurate by me. It shows AT&T's average speeds as ~1Mb/s up and down here, yet according to speedtest.net I'm yet to go below 5Mb/s down and 2Mb/s up with an average around 8Mb/s down, and 3Mb/s up.
