Something that has been confusing me is that AT&T might ship much earlier than Apple. By Apple, i mean the July 2 back-order date.
I got tired of fail attempts on Apple so i pre-ordered on AT&T after they said they were sold out [10:30pm] and i got this confirmation email a few minutes after.
Pre-orders for iPhone® 4 and iPhone 3GS 8 GB will be processed to arrive between June 25, 2010 and July 5, 2010, if submitted by 2 p.m. ET, June 22, 2010.

What do you think?

Apple says ships BY July 2nd. My guess is that if you order early it'll ship sooner than that.

My guess is that their warehouse is sold out (minus whatever they will be sending to stores for launch day). Now they will be sending units out as they get shipments from Apple.

This happened with the 3GS launch where you'd see daily shipments from AT&T as they got units in to send out.

damn

Can't help but notice that if you're trying to pre-order from the Apple website now they've pushed the date back to July 14th.

Now it says Ships by: July 14

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.... Which company manufactures the iPhone.... AT&T or Apple?

If you said Apple, you get a cookie!

Now, which company decides how many iPhones get distributed to other retailers and can also decide how many they want to hold back for sales through their own stores and their own web site?

Hint: The answer starts with an "A" and ends with an "e" with two "p's" and an "l" in between!
