AT&T, New Line of Service: My Best Option?

Hey folks, sorry if this seems spammy, just have one quick question.

I attempted to order a new line of service and the iP5 online at the AT&T website today in order to take advantage of their 50% smartphone deal. My order was rejected because I have to pay a deposit.

I called around and it seems Best Buy and other stores are unable to take a deposit for AT&T, leaving my only option to be the actual corporate store.

With so many great deals at other stores, it seems a shame to pay the full 199 at the AT&T retail stores.

So my question is does anyone know a work around for this? Or have any experience with this seemingly infamous AT&T deposit?

That 50% promotion is with the core stores as well. You get the iP5 for $99 if you have a smartphone less than 3 yrs old in good working condition. Just pay the deposit in the store when you start service...
