AT&T Next / Contract Question

I pre-ordered my 6 Plus on 9/12. I bought it on the Next program even though I knew I was going to pay it off ASAP. When I log into my AT&T account it shows me as being on contract (my previous contract ended mid-September)...

09/12/2014 - 05/12/2016

I assume that's because I owe AT&T 20 payments on my new phone, right? If I pay the phone off there should be no contract on the service itself. Does that sound right? I'm on Mobile Share and am getting the $25 per mo. discount for BYOD.

That's exactly what it is. A 20 month contract. Yes, you will get the $25 discount.

Yes and once you pay it off, you are eligible for ATT Next again.

Ok good. I did not want to renew the 2 year contract and wanted to pay full price for the phone but was confused on pre-order night as to whether or not I could actually do that so ended up ordering under NEXT. So I freaked a little when I saw a contract end date 20 months in the future. Sounds like I'm free as a bird as soon as I pay it off though.
