There's been alot of publicity about AT&T iPhone 3G coverage in trouble areas such as SF and NYC. The issues have been iPhone specific.

As I'm starting to think it's not AT&T network that is the primary reason but the radio/hardware in the AT&T iPhone(the Verizon version has Qualcomm chipset, the AT&T version doesn't).

I used our son's Captivate all day yesterday and have to say the experience was different compared to my iPhone. Different meaning more smooth data/webpage uploads/downloads. We are not in a trouble area, AT&T is pretty good in Philly.

Would like to hear from AT&T non iPhone users in the trouble areas such as SF and NYC to see if there really is a difference between the AT&T iPhone and AT&T non iPhone smartphones(Android such as Captivate).

Most of the issues according to customer service are for iPhone however other 3G smartphones work perfectly.
