AT&T Not Stocking Actual Product?

Just called my local AT&T store (company, not authorized reseller) and they told me that they're not stocking physical iPads in store. They're doing something called 'direct fulfillment' where they have arrival in 3-5 days. They actually said this is 'better' because Apple Online is quoted at 2-3 weeks.

That is really making me frustrated.

As someone else mentioned on a different thread, it wouldn't be an iOS device launch without some sort of AT&T charlie-foxtrot...

Same here. I called 2 stores and they are doing the same.

I just called the AT&T Store near our home. They said they have it in stock but can't sell it until 5pm.

The AT&T Store availability sounds like it is hit-and-miss by location.

Well, the 2-3 days sounds better.. if you strike out tonight you could always do that.

Yeah that's my plan. I'm 50 miles from an Apple Store, so Best Buy and Walmart are the only local options. I'm not sold 100% on getting a 3G one (iPhone tethering probably) so I was just keeping my options open
