AT&T on Verizon phone, insert SIM first or restore first?

Picked up a Verizon iPhone 6 to use on AT&T, do i put in the SIM first before anything else or restore from backup first? Does it matter?
 
Put in the SIM first, waited until it connected to the cellular network and then restored from backup...worked like a charm! :D
