AT&T Premier / get iPhone elsewhere?

Hi all,

This is unclear to me. I'm on a multiline business AT&T premier account. Currently have 3gs's and am ready to upgrade!

Can we get iPhones from the apple store, target, radio shack, etc? Or do we have to go directly to AT&T? Apple's eligibility checker says:

"We're sorry. The AT&T account you have is a business account. Please contact your company's telecom manager or AT&T account manager to complete your iPhone purchase."

I wondered if I could just buy the iPhone and then activate it through the premier website?
