AT&T preorder status Backordered but Pending Shipment

Does this mean we are going to miss the 9/21 shipment or will we get it 9/21?
Does anyone else have this status?

It was the same last year... It will switch and be shipped in time

I did it in the store for the 4 on preorder day 2 years ago. This is for an upgrade so I was hoping that it'll be shipped on time. I didn't bother with the 4S last year so I wasn't sure on how the Backorder process worked.

Correct the AT&T iPhone is showing backordered because AT&T has not received the bulk shipment from Apple. Also don't panic when Apple orders get tracking numbers before your order from AT&T.

99.99% will still get here on 9/21.

AT&T has to receive the bulk orders and break them down to scan, pack and ship to you.

Im new to here, but wanted to ask a question,
I ordered my iPhone 5 at 3am (EST) 12am (Pacific Time) on AT&T website
and my order still says "In Progress". Its been 3 business days and it still says that, is this normal?
