They are lying to get you to buy an iPhone 4 now

My friends wife is very high up at at&t and she doesn't even know when it's coming out, so I highly doubt some store sales person knows.
When I bought my 3G I had heard rumors of the 3GS and the guy at AT7&T convinced me I was wrong and that it would be 9 months before another iphone came out. 3GS came out like 40 days later.
Exactly. Any smart person who is looking to buy a cell phone (and especially sign a contract with one) should look to the internet and reputable forums instead of blindly following what a rep says. They will pull sales tactics and they will lie to you so that they can get you in that contract.
They say what they have to say in order to make a sale TODAY. If they tell you the next iphone might come out in a month or 2 would you buy anything or wait?
Agreed with everyone who said they don't know. Ask the sales guy to sign a contract that if it comes out earlier you get free service for life.
I was at Best Buy browsing around for iPhones 2 summers ago. This was early June. My friend was with me and asking about the iPhone, saying he really wants to get one because he is up for an upgrade. I said "wait a few weeks, a new iPhone will be coming out soon"
Best Buy guy overheard me talking and said something like I was dead wrong and any new phone wouldn't be coming out until the following year most likely.
3GS came out like 2 weeks later.

You really want to try and start an intelligence level fight over what some random rep at an AT&T store told you? I mean, I would assume it meant the phone would come out in March 2012, but I also wouldn't believe an AT&T employee that told me that March follows April, so there you go.
