AT&T Unlimited Data Plans To Become Device-Specific (Still Unlimited)

I pre-ordered at an AT&T store this morning (still PO'd about the 14-21 day issue), and now I see this on my account under "Manage Features":

"Data Unlimited for iPhone (To expire on 11/29/2011)"

Anyone else seeing this?


SOLVED: Unlimited Data for iPhone 4S will take its place.

That stinks. I wonder how they can get away with getting rid of this??? There will be an uprising for sure.

Glad I ordered on apple.com even though it was a beast.
 
I thought the whole purpose of being "grandfathered in" was so that we could keep our AT&T unlimited data plans?!

If AT&T touches my unlimited data plan, then hello Sprint!
 
Seriously contemplating a jump to sprint. I routinely push 2 gigs a month, I have unlimited data now but when I upgrade thats going away and dont really want to worry about going over
 
That's because that isn't the correct plan. They created a new iPhone 4S Unlimited Data plan that should have required you to switch. Unless it will take place when you get your 4S.

It shouldn't go away if you are grandfathered in. You can try calling AT&T or Apple to buy your 4S, upon which you can confirm the unlimited data plan.

That's the whole point of being grandfathered into unlimited, right? That you can keep it as long as you stick with the company?

Thanks, just got off the phone with AT&T. When 4S is activated, a new Unlimited Data for iPhone 4S will take its place.

Also mentioned the in-store pre-order 14-21 day issue and was told they do expect those pre-orders to be in-store on the 14th for pickup (if you chose that option, I did). Fingers-crossed...

Slowly diving into device-specific plans to get people off unlimited starting next year...

I know! Only reason I did was the promise of a paid-for launch day 4S (until we were told 14-21 days this morning). I still plan on waiting/picking it up from that store on launch day.

Well, if they change the plans, it will invalidate our contracts (I think this is still the case) and I'll just take my world phone to sprint.
 
Mine doesn't say that ... But I will be pissed if they try to weasel me out of it.

The carriers are the ones who deal with the rate plan, not the source. IMO it’s best to get the phone from the carrier and then go to Apple if there are problems with the phone later.

The title of this thread should be changed.
 
As far as I can tell there is no indication my unlimited will expire, just checked att.com
