AT&T claimed that I owned my iPhone X. They also UNLOCKED my phone for me over the phone; however, I received a text message this morning that they haven't received my trade-in device yet and that I will be charged.

How should I go about this?

Go about what? Are you supposed to be trading in your phone?

If so, why would you care if it's unlocked? Did you call them to unlock it?

What is going on here?

I assumed I would be returning it, but when I called they said I owned it. I then asked if it could be unlocked, which they did for me over the phone. Not sure as to why I would be getting charged when they unlocked the device for me.

Technically the unlocking doesn't really have anything to do with owning it. I'm assuming you're on the Next plan? If so, have you made all your payments? If no, return your phone unless you want to keep paying for it. If yes, keep it or sell it because you do own it.
